FAQ

This section provides the answers to the most common questions I receive from my clients.
Can’t find your question here? Send me an email and I’ll be happy to help you.
Why opt for an independent translator instead of a translation agency?
Because it guarantees you’ll be dealing with the same person managing your project from start to finish. This will make your life easier, as communication will be more direct and efficient.
The texts will be handled by the same translator, which guarantees that the terminology used will be consistent in all of your technical or marketing documents.
Furthermore, agencies have few in-house translators, meaning that they turn to freelance
professionals like me for the majority of their projects. If you hire me directly, you can cut out
the middleman, which in turn lowers the cost.
And, lastly, as I’m putting my professional reputation at stake with each project, you can rest
assured that you’ll receive an accurate translation on the date agreed upon that will fulfil all of your expectations.
Which languages do you work with?
I translate documents from French and English into Spanish, my mother tongue.
If you need a different combination of languages, I will gladly put you in touch with a qualified linguist who could work on your translation.
How much will the translation cost?
The cost depends on the subject matter of the project. Translating a travel blog article is not the same as translating the technical specifications for a medicine.
In addition, the cost varies depending on the format of the original text and the urgency with which you require the translation. Email me the document and I’ll send you a quote within 24 hours.
What is your delivery timeframe?
I tend to translate around 2000 words per day, although this figure varies depending on the
degree of specialisation and difficulty of the original text.
Which payment methods do you accept?
I prefer payment by bank transfer or PayPal in euros, as I live in Spain. My quotes include the payment details and terms.
Once you have accepted the quote, you’ll have to pay half of the total amount due for the
project so that I can begin the translation.
How can I request a translation? What is your translation process?
1. After telling me what you need and sending me the final version of the documents to
translate or proofread, I review all of the information and send you a quote for the project.
2. If you’re satisfied with my quote, all you have to do is send me your confirmation by email.
For our first time working together, I’ll ask you to pay me half of the amount of the quote sent.
3. Once the project has been confirmed, I’ll get down to work. If you’ve sent me a specific
glossary for it, I’ll use that terminology. During the translation process, I might get in touch with you if I find any errors or incoherences in the original text, or if any queries arise that we
haven’t resolved beforehand.
4. After finishing the translation, I always carry out a full proofreading to ensure you receive a
text free of errors. Once complete, I’ll send you the document by the deadline agreed upon,
together with the corresponding invoice.
Can you guarantee you will keep my project confidential?
Of course. As a professional member of Asetrad (the Spanish Association of Translators, Proofreaders and Interpreters), I abide by their code of conduct, which obliges members to keep all information provided by clients confidential.
If desired, or so required by your company, we can sign an additional confidentiality
agreement.
